We suppose that Balunsat is a misspelling of the Surname Balansat , also spelled Balanzat.
The Balansat or Balanzat were found living in early Tarloc, where our family could have branched out from, but its earliest origins were found in 12th century Ibiza, Spain. Beyond that, its origins are the center of much speculation.
The name Balansat is found in the Romanian language, which literally translated, means balanced. This, along with Eastern European DNA markers, suggests that the earlier origins are from Romania. Romania was colonized by Greeks during early history, so the Balansat could have come from Greece, then to Romania, then to Ibiza, and from there to the Philippines. The reason I mentioned this, is because our earlier ancesters, by way of family tradition, said that the Balunsat's were of Greek origin. |
